‘I was doing well. I had a talented boyfriend, and we went off to Japan to work. I was earning good money. I’d just bought myself a car. But we split up, and I came home to my family. I wanted to move out, but I knew how long it would take me to get a deposit on a flat. So I thought, if I won Big Brother I’d be able to do it. When I won, and came out of the house, I didn’t realise how much people recognise you and now I find it quite difficult. It’s weird; I hate the red carpet, I hate being photographed by the paparazzi, but I don’t mind being in front of the camera or a microphone, because that’s what I do. I love being on the radio doing my daily show because I’m there in the studio with my friend, having a laugh. I love being a DJ, but a lot of people have said, “she’s only doing it because she’s been on the telly and she can’t possibly be any good at it.” It’s difficult being taken seriously as a DJ, which is why I am really excited about going to Brazil, because people will be there to listen to my music and I’ll be able to play whatever I want.’
