Channel 4 at 25

25x4 is a book published by Channel 4 which portrays some of the benefits that Channel 4’s independent status and remit have allowed it to deliver over the last quarter of a century. It is not meant to be a definitive or scientific account but rather a celebratory creative portrait, exploring key social, political, economic and cultural themes from the last 25 years about which Channel 4 can claim to have raised awareness. Each chapter deals with a single theme and attempts to establish a link with Channel 4 programmes from the past and present day. The book is not the work of Channel 4 or its staff although we have paid the cost of production and had oversight of the commissioning process. Like Channel 4 itself, this book was conceived as a creative space for independent voices to express alternative viewpoints on the issues most pertinent to British consumers and citizens. It is not a single narrative to be consumed in one sitting, but an eclectic collection of bite size perspectives which will reward repeated visits.
